Greek

Greek is the language in which the New Testament was written. It is a very powerful language in that its nouns decline (change form such as actor, actors, actress, actresses) but also contain case (subject, possessiveness, date, accusative, optative) and gender (male, female, neuter). Following is a sample of Greek from the New Testament taken from John 1:1.

Ἐν ἀρχῇ ἦν ὁ λόγος, καὶ ὁ λόγος ἦν πρὸς τὸν θεόν, καὶ θεὸς ἦν ὁ λόγος.

Ἐν ἀρχῇ ἦν  ὁ λόγος καὶ λόγος ἦν πρὸς τὸν θεόν καὶ θεὸς ἦν λόγος
In beginning was the word and the word was toward the God and God was the word
